CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Funeral services announcements have been updated for 19-year-old Christopher Ruiz who fatally drowned Sunday evening.
Ruiz's body was recovered from Lake Corpus Christi just before 8 p.m. Sunday.
The teen's mother said a vigil will be held in her son's honor this Friday at 8 p.m. in Robstown. It will take place in a field near the 600 block of Lopez Street.
The viewing and holy rosary will now be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Robstown Early High School auditorium.
A funeral mass will be the next morning at ten at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, also in Robstown.
In his obituary Christopher's family says he was a bright and ambitious young man who graduated magna cum laude from Robstown Early High School just last year.
He then went on to pursue his degree in welding at Del Mar College and was two weeks away from his 20th birthday.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
