11:45 AM WEDNESDAY: The rain and wind are starting to slow on Padre Island, but the current is still pretty fast in the canals.

11:30 AM WEDNESDAY: Rain is starting to fall harder on Padre Island, where Madeline Salinas has been reporting from all day. She spoke with former 3NEWS evening anchor Joe Gazin who told her while the canals have risen about 2 or 3 feet, this much added water isn't unusual for a weather event like this.

11:07 AM WEDNESDAY: Rain slowed down meteorologist Faith Colbert, but she's seeing AEP-Texas trucks out in the Aransas Pass area working on power outages affecting Aransas County.

11:03 AM WEDNESDAY: Madeline Salinas is back on Padre Island near Cuttysark Street where the water in the canals is about 2 to 3 feet deeper than normal.

The area near the seawall is already underwater.

8:45 AM WEDNESDAY: Our Lex Cam spotted water over the barge dock parking area and reaching the wall of the Art Museum of South Texas. Current tide reading is 2.75 FT above normal at the USS Lexington and the forecast has it rising above 3 FT around noon. Storm surge along our coast is expected to be 2-3 ft., says meteorologist Carly Smith.

8:42 AM WEDNESDAY: The Lex Cam captured a car appears to be stuck near close to the water by the Fajitaville on North Beach. They are surrounded by water on three different sides.

8:38 AM WEDNESDAY: About 3,300 customers are without power in Rockport. No restoration time is listed. More than a hundred people are listed as being without power in each of these areas: Ingleside, Holiday Beach, and Seven Sisters, near Freer.

6:57 AM WEDNESDAY: The waves are massive as the sun is up on Whitecap Beach.

6:33 AM WEDNESDAY: Rain isn't coming down quite as hard as it had been, and a few people are heading onto the beach, including one surfer, but conditions remain dangerous and the tides are still hitting the seawall.

5:54 AM WEDNESDAY: Meteorologist Faith Colbert explains what is causing the dangerous coastal conditions we'll see today and Thursday.

5:45 AM WEDNESDAY: The waves are crashing at the Michael J. Ellis Beach Seawall, drenching multiskilled journalist Madeline Salinas, meteorologist Faith Colbert and photographer Jeremy Landers, and leaving behind a man's sandal, a women's sandal and some other souvenirs onto the ramp to the seawall from the beach, if you lost any on the beach yesterday. Madeline Salinas said the wind has picked up between every live shot.

5:37 AM WEDNESDAY: The heavier rains coming in later today will definitely affect today's danger level on the beaches, but the wind is the biggest concern, said meteorologist Faith Colbert, despite the storm being hundreds of miles away. Flooding is also going to be a concern around the city and along the coast. The waves are "washing-machine"-like.

5:32 AM WEDNESDAY: It's started sprinkling at Whitecap Beach, and the water has reached the Seawall.

5:16 AM WEDNESDAY: Biggest tides and heaviest impacts haven't happened yet, but meteorologist Faith Colbert said the high water levels at Whitecap Beach this morning are indicators of what water levels are going to look like for a few days between the storm and the approaching full moon.

5:02 AM WEDNESDAY:  Madeline Salinas clocks 25 mph sustained winds at Michael J. Ellis Seawall. The tides are approaching the seawall, but it hasn't reached it yet. It's also a red-flag day on the beach. It's not advisable to be on the beach today.
